Police investigate death as homicide

A man was found dead in a Little Rock home Wednesday, according to police, and authorities have begun a homicide investigation.

Officers were called to a residence in the 7800 block of West 29th Street about 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, a news release from the city's Police Department states. Authorities identified the deceased man as Gregory Mayo, 51.

A friend of Mayo reportedly told police he went to the house to check on Mayo after being unable to reach him for several days and found him dead inside.

The body appeared to have been in the home for some time, according to police. Detectives reportedly found evidence that the death was a homicide, but the news release did not specify the cause of death.
