Oxford seeking re-election as Benton County coroner

BENTONVILLE -- Daniel Oxford is seeking another term as coroner of Benton County.

Oxford, 44, of Gravette is running unopposed. He was elected to his first term in 2008. His 2018 salary is $94,657.

The Republican worked as a deputy coroner for more than 10 years before he was elected to head the office.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank the citizens, law enforcement, and all the others behind the scene resources for their continued support, past and present," Oxford said. "I'm truly honored to receive the positive feedback from the families that have just experienced a loss."

Oxford said his goals include to more accurately track drug and substance abuse deaths by breaking down the classification such as opiates, benzodiazepines, alcohol or illicit drug into substances such as Oxycodone versus Xanax or methamphetamine.

He said he will never forget his office's mission is to speak for the deceased, to always show respect and listen to the concerns of the families while continuing to uphold his oath and the classifications of death according to Arkansas' laws.

He is a registered medicolegal death investigator, certified Arkansas death investigator and state certified phelebotomist.

Oxford is a member of the Arkansas Coroners Association, American Medioclegal Death Investigator, International Association or Coroner's and Medical Examiners, Reed and Associates and Arkansas Chapter: International Arson Investigators.
