A collision between a car and a truck on a state highway near Clarksville on Wednesday left two people dead and two minors injured, Arkansas State Police said.

Julio Capote of Baytown, Texas, was driving a 1998 Kenworth truck south on Arkansas 21 near Clarksville just before 1 p.m. when his vehicle crossed the centerline, according to a preliminary crash report. The 40-year-old overcorrected, causing the truck to tip and slide into a 2005 Honda that was traveling north.

Troopers said Capote and the Honda driver, 48-year-old Cynthia Napier of Waldron, were killed. Two minors, whose ages and names were not released, were hurt in the wreck. Conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the crash. At least 220 people have died in accidents on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
