Authorities are looking for a man who has been on the run since fleeing from a traffic stop Monday afternoon in southwest Arkansas, state police said.

According to a news release from the agency, a trooper stopped Larry Jones about 3:45 p.m. along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 in Hempstead County.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said Tuesday afternoon that he could not disclose why the 22-year-old fled at that time.

As the driver traveled east, deputies with the Nevada County sheriff's office installed spike strips along the road near Prescott in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the release states.

Jones, who is believed to be from Tennessee, reportedly lost control of his vehicle and was ejected. Authorities said he was last seen leaving the crash scene and heading into a wooded area on the north side of the interstate.

A search continued through the evening hours, but Jones was not found, according to the news release.

An investigation is ongoing, and state police are preparing affidavits to seek formal charges, Sadler said.
