Woman arraigned on manslaughter charge

FAYETTEVILLE -- A Rogers woman pleaded not guilty today to manslaughter and other charges related to a Springdale home invasion that ended with a man being fatally shot.

Kaili Brooke Cogdill, 21, also entered not guilty pleas to residential burglary, forgery and failure to appear.

She was given an Aug. 10 court date before Washington County Circuit Judge Mark Lindsay.

The shooting happened May 14 at 4533 Greens Drive, according to a police preliminary report.Police arrived to find a 21-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the release. The man was taken to Northwest Medical Center, where he died, authorities said.

Police said the man, Jalen Tims, 21, was involved in the burglary and was killed by the apartment resident, Clinton Pruitt. Pruitt, 29, told police he fired his weapon at Tims, who had kicked in his door with the help of Cogdill at 6:57 a.m.

The male, Tims, fled but collapsed on the sidewalk and the female, Cogdill, fled in a silver passenger car, police said. Springdale detectives determined Pruitt and Cogdill were acquaintances and had met through an online dating app, according to police.

Cogdill is being held at the Washington County Jail in lieu of bond.
