PAPER TRAILS: No spelling medal for metalheads; North Little Rock resident to appear on 'Match Game'

SHIRT ALERT: "Abbreviation Police, here is a crumb for you," was the caption of the photo Kerry Jacobs of Royal posted on Facebook from Hot Springs' Magic Springs Theme and Water Park.

Jacobs -- who was there to attend the June 9 Queensryche, Warrant and Great White concert -- snapped a picture of the back of a Queensryche 2018 North American Tour T-shirt with a listing of concert dates. And something stood out to the eagle-eyed home-based accounting associate with Acxiom.

"June 9 - Hot Springs, AK."

The concert keepsake incorrectly placed the Spa City in Alaska instead of Arkansas.

We emailed Tinman Merchandising LLC, which makes and sells Queensryche apparel about the typo.

Steve Nash of Tinman responded, "Thank you for bringing that to our attention. This is something that does happen from time to time and despite fail safes sometimes one creeps through."

Hey, at least they managed to spell tricky "Queensryche" right.

And before you tell me that I didn't, by failing to put those little dots over the "y," newspaper style dictates that we don't use umlaut marks. So, to borrow a Queensryche song title, I'm doing the "Best I Can."

MATCH CATCH: Central Arkansas music fans might have seen singer Cheryl Humphrey, who performs as CandySoul, at venues like South on Main onstage.

This week they can see her in their living rooms on a screen.

The North Little Rock resident will appear in the episode of the rebooted Match Game, hosted by Alec Baldwin, that airs at 8 p.m. Thursday on ABC.

Some seven years ago, she auditioned for a different game show that didn't materialize. Someone in the casting process remembered her and recommended her for this show. Several interviews later, Humphrey, the owner of Candy Butta -- a line of scented shea butter skin care products -- was flown to New York for the October taping that included celebrities like Saturday Night Live's Kenan Thompson.

Producers asked her to take Candy Butta to possibly show Baldwin.

"I'm like, 'Are you serious? Oh my goodness!'" she says with a laugh. "When they asked Alec, he said, 'Sure.' ... He allowed me to present my Butta and he took it and put some on. ... I can't wait for everyone to watch the show. I wanted to make sure I represented Arkansas well."

And we sure hope she guessed well. Humphrey also is in grad school, studying music education at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

So you Butta believe some prize money could come in handy.

POST WITH THE MOST: Grant Merrill, who runs InsideFortSmith.Com, via Facebook commenting on the news of Fireball Whisky covering Arkansas' I-40 after Thursday's crash: "On a [related] note, inquiries to the Arkansas Highway Department on 'Adopting A Highway' for the day are up 150%!"
