Two men arrested after fatal Arkansas shooting, authorities say

Two men have been arrested after one person was killed in a shooting Wednesday in northeast Arkansas, authorities said.

Deputies responded at 9 p.m. to a reported gunshot on Arkansas 69 between Moorefield and Sulphur Rock, according to a news release from the Independence County sheriff's office.

They found Michael Bryant, 33, with a gunshot wound. He was taken to White River Medical Center, where he died of his injuries, the release said.

Deputies arrested two Batesville men, Alex Brosius, 26, and Jessee Shoemaker, 33, and booked them into the Independence County jail.

The two remained in jail Friday morning, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing.
