The pilot of a small plane was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after her plane crashed Thursday morning in northwest Arkansas.

One person was hurt Thursday when a small plane crashed in Northwest Arkansas, authorities said.

The plane went down at 11 a.m. shortly after takeoff from a private airstrip at the Silver Wings Field Aviation Cadet Museum, 1 Carroll County Road 207, in Eureka Springs. The aircraft was intact when it slid to a stop about 75 yards east of the airstrip, according to a news release from the Carroll County sheriff's office.

Deputies said pilot Marlyn Atkinson of Excelsior Springs, Mo., was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. No one else was in the aircraft.

Initial reports indicated smoke wafting from the plane, but there was no fire, sheriff's office spokesman George Frye said.
