A 34-year-old Arkansan was taken into custody early Wednesday after firing a weapon through a residence's window and striking an Arkansas Department of Transportation truck multiple times, authorities say.

The Garland County sheriff's office said it received a call shortly before 7:30 a.m. of a man reportedly pointing a gun at family members at the residence.

When deputies arrived minutes later, they were met by the suspect's father outside of the Pinehill Road residence. Authorities were then able to get the mother to come out of the home, according to a news release.

The suspect, identified as Robert Bailey of Hot Springs, "fired a weapon through the window of the house which struck an Arkansas Highway Department vehicle located on Pinehill," the sheriff's office said.

After a perimeter was established, deputies were able to get Bailey out of the house, and he was reportedly taken into custody around 7:45 a.m.

He was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, and once medically cleared, he will be transported to the Garland County jail, the release states. Charges are pending.
