12-year-old girl injured in hit, run

SPRINGDALE -- A 12-year-old girl was injured in a hit and run accident about 12:40 p.m. today on Old Missouri Road, according to police.

Police did not release the name of the girl and said she did not sustain life-threatening injuries, according to a Springdale Police press release. She was taken to Northwest Medical Center in Springdale.

The girl was crossing Old Missouri Road on her bicycle when a dark colored SUV going north hit her near the Huntsville Avenue intersection, according to the press release.

Witnesses told police the vehicle accelerated and left, continuing north on Old Missouri Road.

Witnesses were unable to provide any other description of the vehicle or driver. The vehicle possibly has damage to the left front quarter panel, according to the release.

This accident is under investigation and police said anyone with information about the accident can call 479-751-4542.
