Anushka Yadava, a 2018 graduate of Little Rock Central High School, has been named the recipient of this year's Sen. Dale Bumpers Scholarship.
Yadava will attend Hendrix College in Conway this fall, majoring in pre-med.
The $1,500 Bumpers scholarship was established in 1999 by Bumpers' friends and associates in recognition of his public service as an Arkansas governor and a U.S. senator. As a senator, he introduced legislation that made Little Rock Central High School a National Historic Site.
An endowed scholarship was established at the Arkansas Community Foundation in his honor to recognize a Little Rock Central senior who has an interest in and commitment to public service.
It was awarded for the first time in 2000. Now, 17 Little Rock Central graduates have received the scholarship.
