CONWAY — Conway police on Wednesday issued a statement in response to what authorities call a “misguided” Facebook post about the abduction and slaying of a Wooster woman.

Two teenagers are being held on capital murder and other charges in Elvia Fragstein’s abduction outside a Conway shopping center and her death. Her body was found in Jefferson County.

In a statement, Conway police spokeswoman LaTresha Woodruff said the false post being shared on Facebook indicates a woman "got information from the hospital that a gang is specifically targeting women in Conway — because it’s a college town — for the purpose of kidnapping and dismembering their bodies."

“This post is MISGUIDED and UNCORROBORATED,” Woodruff said, noting there is "NO evidence to support what is written."
