Two drivers die in state accidents

At least two people died in separate accidents on Arkansas roads.

A 30-year-old Harrison man died Monday after his vehicle hit a ditch and overturned, authorities said.

The wreck happened at 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of Arkansas 7 and Dick Henry Lane in Boone County, according to a preliminary accident report from the Arkansas State Police.

Troopers said Richard Peasley was driving a 2002 Dodge south on Arkansas 7 when he lost control on a curve and the vehicle left the road. Peasley suffered fatal injuries.

Conditions were described on the report as clear and dry at the time of the wreck.

A 50-year-old Fairfield Bay man died earlier this month after the pickup he was driving traveled off a state highway and hit a tree, authorities said.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. on July 9 on Arkansas 16 in Cleburne County, according to a preliminary accident report from the Arkansas State Police.

Troopers said William Wingate was driving east when he lost control of his 1998 Dodge Ram on a curve. The pickup crossed into the westbound lane, traveled off the road and hit a tree.

Conditions were described as clear and dry at the time of the wreck.
