Man found dead near south Fayetteville trail; no signs of trauma, police say

FAYETTEVILLE -- The body of a man found dead Saturday near Town Branch Trail showed no signs of trauma, according to police.

A call came in about 4:15 p.m. from a passer-by who encountered the man lying in a trailside creek near South School Avenue south of 15th Street, said Sgt. Anthony Murphy with the Fayetteville Police Department.

Officers have identified the man but are not releasing his name. He was dead when emergency personnel arrived at the scene, Murphy said.

The man's body will be sent to the state crime laboratory in Little Rock to determine a cause of death, Murphy said.
