FAYETTEVILLE -- A man was sentenced to federal prison today for selling methamphetamine.

Cornelius Cox, 33, of Fayetteville, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release and was ordered to pay a $2,400 fine on one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

In late July through early August in 2017, the 4th Judicial Drug Task Force conducted several purchases of methamphetamine from Cox, according to court documents.

Cox was arrested Aug. 12, 2017. Detectives located more than 500 grams of a mixture which contained methamphetamine during a search of his car. In addition, detectives found two sets of digital scales in the vehicle. During a subsequent search of his residence, detectives located a loaded Ruger pistol as well as scales and baggies.

Cox was indicted in September 2017 and pleaded guilty in March.
