A 33-year-old Newark man has been arrested in connection with Monday’s shooting death of Steven Reed, 27, of Newport, according to a news release from Independence County Sheriff Shawn Stephens.
John Goodman was being held on $1 million bond, according to the release. He remained in the Independence County jail in Batesville on Wednesday.
At 7:20 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to an address on North Locust Street in Newark. They found Reed deceased and lying on the floor, according to the release.
Investigators have interviewed the suspect and two witnesses. The case is still under investigation and has yet to be turned over to a prosecutor, according to the release.
