Little Rock man charged in kidnapping of woman, 2-year-old child

Little Rock police officers responding to a call about a drunken man on Cumberland Street on Tuesday found that the man was a suspect in the kidnapping of a woman and 2-year-old child last month, authorities said.

Corey Hall of Little Rock had a warrant out for his arrest, reports said.

On June 28, Hall reportedly knocked on a woman's door, stuck a gun in her mouth and told her to drive him to Granite Mountain, according to a police report. The woman told officers that she loaded her child into the car and drove Hall where he wanted to go without further incident, the report said.

Officers interviewed Hall after the initial incident but released him because of a lack of evidence, reports said.

The woman told officers that Hall had recorded her entire ordeal, police reported.

After receiving a call about an intoxicated man Tuesday, officers arrived to find a shirtless, sweating Hall and were notified of the warrant for his arrest, reports said.

Hall was taken to the Pulaski County jail facing two charges of kidnapping, two charges of terroristic threatening, a charge of endangering the welfare of a minor, and charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct. No bail had been set as of Wednesday night.

Man charged after wife's vehicle shot

A College Station man is accused of firing a gun at his estranged wife as she left her home Tuesday.

Little Rock officers arrested James Lamar Killian, 28, on charges of felony discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two felony charges of terroristic threatening Tuesday, according to police documents.

Killian's wife told officers that she was in the process of a divorce and that her husband had been following and harassing her for several days, the report said. When the woman left her house in Little Rock with a friend, she said, Killian pulled up in a vehicle and fired a shot at her, striking her vehicle, police reported.

Officers said no one was injured in the shooting, and the weapon used to shoot the vehicle -- a 9mm semi-automatic firearm -- was found in plain view when officers arrested the man.

Killian was in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of a $1,530 bond related to another charge. No bond was set on the charges related to the shooting as of Wednesday night, records show.

'Large fight' in Little Rock results in 2 arrests

Two vehicles with children inside them were struck by gunfire in a "large fight" outside a Little Rock mattress store Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Officers were called to Bedrock Mattress and More at 3901 S. University Ave. shortly before 4:45 p.m. on a report of "a large group" of people "fighting and shooting at each other."

Two women told police that they were walking out of the business when a Dodge Charger sped toward them. When they ran back into the store, shots "rang out," according to a Little Rock police report.

One of the women said three more vehicles then arrived and tried to surround them in the parking lot.

A woman accused of taking everyone to the scene told officers that the fight stemmed from a dispute at Stephens Elementary School in which her niece was assaulted. She identified 35-year-old Calvin Shavers of North Little Rock as the shooter, the report said.

A 31-year-old Little Rock woman said she was attacked in her Nissan Sentra while her children were in the vehicle. According to the report, 23-year-old Rhakelle Brown of Little Rock tried to stab the Sentra's front passenger seat and pepper-spray everyone inside the car. The vehicle had a bullet hole in its trunk, an officer noted.

A 33-year-old North Little Rock resident told police that Brown also "came at her'" with a knife, the report said. She said her Ford Taurus was struck by gunfire when she tried to flee the scene with her children. The report said a Toyota Highlander also received damage.

Six children were reportedly at the scene during the fight.

Shavers faces eight counts of terroristic act, authorities said, and Brown was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, three counts of second-degree battery and one count of third-degree battery.

Records show that both were in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday night. No bail had been set.

According to authorities, a black Honda pulled up behind him, and a male got out and asked for a cigarette. When the victim said he didn't have any, the stranger reportedly pulled up his shirt to reveal a handgun.

The Little Rock man told officers he handed over $300 when the robber demanded money.
