Richard's Country Meat Market, Inc., was built in the mid-1980s and originally called Country Time Meat Shoppe. Richard McGinnis became part owner in 1993. In 1997, Country Time became a family-owned business and took a new name: Richard's Country Meat Market.

Richard's Country Meat Market offers a lunch menu daily that includes sandwiches, wraps, panini, and soups. "Our new lunch sandwich we have is the Miami Cuban sandwich," stated McGinnis. "We just started it this week. It is ham, porchetta, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on our homemade cuban bread and it is grilled. It is an excellent sandwich."

Richard's offers a lot of specialty items, along with great customer service. "We make fresh hamburger patties and about 25 different fresh sausages," noted McGinnis. "We get fresh fish three days a week to sell in the shop and we have local produce available to us. We have Arkansas tomatoes right now, but in about another week or two we will have tomatoes from Elkins." People don't have to buy what is in the case at Richard's -- they are happy to cut steaks for customers any time they want them cut.

With the 4th of July just around the corner, many people will be grilling out for the holiday. Richard's Country Meat Market has the best meats for the occasion. The shop is currently doing what they refer to as their "Pork Explosion." It's a lattice weave of bacon that they lay down and then put a layer of breakfast sausage on it along with hot pepper cheese, and then they slice Polish sausage and hot links on the inside of it. They roll it into a roll and you can take it and put it on your smoker like that.

"Our sausages, ¼ pound all beef hotdogs, kabobs, homemade hamburger patties, and gourmet ½ pound hamburger patties are really popular for the 4th of July," stated McGinnis. "Our gourmet hamburger patties already have the product ground into the meat." For example, the bacon cheddar burger already has the bacon and cheddar ground inside the hamburger meat and made into a ½ pound patty. "Our gourmet hamburger patties include a regular seasoned burger, a bacon cheddar jalapeno burger, sun-dried tomato and basil burger, a mushroom swiss burger, a cajun burger with hot pepper cheese and our homemade cajun seasoning, a bacon wrapped steak burger, black pepper crusted burger, a blue cheese, bacon, and red onion burger, a Greek lamb burger with spinach, feta, and garlic, and a seasoned buffalo burger," added McGinnis.

Richard's has continued to grow over the years thanks to loyal customers and an increasing demand for the personal service for which Richard is known. In fact, Richard's Country Meat market has won the award for best meat market every year since the inception of the Best of the Best awards by the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Richard offers his customers the highest quality product and a personal wealth of knowledge developed during more than 45 years in the business. The family of dedicated employees at Richard's offers customers cooking tips and recipes for practically any dish or cut of meat.
