A 75-year-old Malvern woman died after the car she was driving traveled off a state highway and hit a tree, police said.

Shortly after 3:15 p.m. Friday, a Lincoln Continental driven by Donna Hart ran off Arkansas 51 near Heights Road in Magnet Cove, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The car reportedly then crashed into a tree. Hart was taken to a Hot Springs hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

No one else was listed as being hurt, and the report didn't specify what caused the Lincoln to leave the highway. Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

At least 233 people have died in traffic crashes in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
