Arkansas classroom aide accused of sexual indecency with child suspended by school

A classroom aide accused of sexual indecency with a child has been suspended, according to the superintendent of the Wynne School District.

Lee Walker, 30, faces two counts of sexual indecency with a child as well as one count each of sexually grooming a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, records show.

On Jan. 5, a 12-year-old student at the district reported that someone had engaged in inappropriate conduct with her in the classroom, authorities said.

The victim had been shown a nude photo in a "gallery" of such images, according to a Wynne Police Department report.

During an interview with a detective, Walker admitted to sending a nude image of himself to someone via text message Jan. 4. He added that the photo was not intended to be seen by the girl.

On another occasion, Walker told a Wynne Junior High School student that he "likes watching her walk away," a second report Jan. 11 detailed.

"Can I have you? I want you. Yes or no?" a note from Walker said, according to police.

When the girl refused to answer, Walker reportedly mouthed "yes or no" during class.

Walker was suspended and given a letter of recommendation for termination three days later at the culmination of an investigation, Superintendent Carl Easley said.

The suspended aide can ask for a hearing before the Wynne School Board on the recommendation for his termination, Easley said in an emailed statement.

"We know that parents are concerned and we are working with the Wynne Police Department on this matter," Easley said.

Records show Walker was booked shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday into the Cross County jail. He remained there as of Sunday night, according to an online inmate roster.
