It's been almost two years since Nashville alternative folk/rock group Judah & the Lion released "Folk Hop n' Roll" -- the sophomore effort that launched them to the top of alternative radio charts and lead to sold out performances across the country, including their return to George's Majestic Lounge on Jan. 31.
In the time since the release of their debut album in 2014, banjo player/vocalist Nate Zuercher says each member of the group not only experienced significant growth in their personal lives, but between "Folk Hop n' Roll" and the followup deluxe version in early 2017, the trio found their footing with their genre-bending sound.

"This [sound] feels more right, more consistent with what we're doing [and] like we've really grown into what we were hoping for," Zuercher shares.
With the group's "Going to Mars Tour" -- named for their most recent single -- the guys aim to spread hope and positivity to their fans as well as themselves, like the theme of the song.
"The main lyric from that is, 'We can do anything.' And I think that's a large part of our way of thinking and the way we view our lives, and what we want to instill that in other people," Zuercher reveals. "How do we help people get to their best self? And how do we do that for ourselves? [This idea of] not hiding behind these fears that we may have or anything people may speak of us that's a lie, but really living into the truth of what we can be and what we were made to be."
