BENTON COUNTY

Congregation Etz Chaim in Bentonville, which meets at Waterway, 4074 S.W. H St., offers a free seminar on basic Judaism. Sessions include "What We Celebrate," a look at the events and holidays observed by the Jewish people, meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 20 at Panera Bread in Bentonville; and "What We Pray," a look at traditional Jewish prayer and liturgy, meeting 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 13 at Panera Bread.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rogers, 1101 W. Hudson Road, begins a "Connections Class" at 9:30 a.m. Sunday to introduce and review the basics of Christianity from a Lutheran perspective. Class members have no obligation to join the church.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 12 McKissick Creek Road, Suite 1210, Bentonville, offers class from 9 to 10 a.m. each Sunday exploring Edwene Gaines' book The Four Spiritual Laws of Prosperity: A Simple Guide to Unlimited Abundance. Unity offers a weekly class with discussion and meditation around a specific reading from 7 to 8:30 p.m. each Wednesday.

The church serves its monthly potluck after the service Sunday.

Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, 1591 Forest Hills Blvd., offers a worship service with communion at 10:15 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday school classes begin at 9 a.m. Church members join for singing, devotions and prayer at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, preceded by a family fellowship dinner at 5:30 p.m.

A new men's Bible study meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Al Meendering leads the 12-week video series, focusing on embracing and defending a biblical world view. A ladies' Bible study, led by Joanne Morris, meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

KniTTogether and the White Cross Women's Mission ministry also meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, working on projects for those in need in the community and at a hospital in the Congo.

The Oasis Food Pantry operates from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County, 1400 W. The congregation will elect board members and approve a budget at the annual meeting held after the service.

The United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, plans a family art night at 6 p.m. Feb. 2. Valentine's Day crafts are planned.

The United Singles meet for games and snacks at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 10., and the Breakfast Club meets at 8 a.m. Feb. 12, with Rosalyn Harris giving a devotion.

The church offers Ash Wednesday services at 12:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14.

The church presents Stephen Phelps, the regional gift planner for the Lutheran Planned Giving Partnership of the Central States and Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod, speaking at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 17. A light lunch will be served.

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., recently recognized the Rev. Joe Tropansky for 55 years of ministry. He was ordained Jan. 25, 1963, at his home church, First Presbyterian Church in DuBois, Penn. He served as a U.S. Army chaplain and pastor of churches in Pennsylvania, Iowa, Nebraska and North Dakota. Since his retirement in 2001, Tropansky has served as part-time pulpit supply in 17 churches in Northwest Arkansas.

The church offers a traditional worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. Christian education classes for all ages meet at 8:30 a.m., and nursery care is available.

Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, 2305 S. Dixieland Road, offers a Bible class at 8:30 a.m. each Sunday. A Bible study on the liturgy meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Another study on Christian doctrine meets at 7 p.m. Jan. 24.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., plans a winter craft day, for children ages 4-12, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

Men's Bible study meets at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. every Monday.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. Donations of jelly are needed.

The church offers a traditional worship service at 8:30 a.m. and a blended service at 10:45 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday school and adult Bible classes meet at 9:45 a.m. "Ignite," a service for people who don't attend church regularly, begins at 5 p.m. each Saturday. The service is preceded by a free meal.

The church plans a worship service for those unable to attend a regular service at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 6. A lunch is served after the service, and transportation is available.

The church offers worship at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. The Prayer Fellowship meets at 9:15 a.m. each Wednesday, and the pastors hold weekly prayer and worship from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Cross Church in Springdale, 1709 Johnson Road, hosts the Tim Tebow Foundation's "Night to Shine" from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 9. The event is a prom night for people with special needs.

Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, 699 N. Sang Ave., presents Robert Ford in a staged reading of his play My Father's War at 7 p.m. Feb. 17. Tickets are $30, available at the temple and Nightbird Books in Fayetteville. The event is a benefit for the temple.

Holiday Island Community Church, 188 Stateline Dr., offers an Ash Wednesday service at 3 p.m. Feb. 14.

The church plans a five-week Lenten Bible class featuring the video series The Path to the Cross by Ray Vander Laan. Jeff Timm will lead the class which meets at 10 a.m. each Friday, beginning Feb. 16.
