UPDATE: Gravette shooting leaves one man in hospital, three officers on leave

The Benton County Sheriff's Office, Gravette Police Department and Sulphur Springs Police Department went to 407 Second Ave. S.E. for a disturbance call around 3:41 p.m. Saturday, according to an Arkansas State Police press release.

When they arrived, officers and deputies said they found Eulas Linwood Hughes, 40, armed with a handgun and long gun. Officers and deputies tried to negotiate with Hughes to drop the guns and Hughes tried to enter the home. State Police reports at some point Hughes pointed one of the guns at officers, who then fired at Hughes.

Hughes was hospitalized for a gun shot wound, said Sgt. Shannon Jenkins with the Benton County Sheriff's Office. Three officers were placed on administrative leave.

The State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation.

8:30 p.m. Saturday

GRAVETTE -- One man is in the hospital following a shooting Saturday afternoon, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

The condition of Linwood Hughes, the man involved in the shooting, wasn't released. No officers were injured.

Three officers were placed on administrative leave.

Gravette's Police Department went to 405 Second St late Saturday afternoon for a disturbance call, said Sgt. Shannon Jenkins with the Sheriff's Office. During the call, or shortly after, officers found out Hughes was armed. Shots were fired by Police and Hughes was taken to a hospital where he was treated for gun shot wounds.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office assisted Gravette Police and have turned the investigation over to Arkansas State Police.

The investigation is on going.
