Officer, medic injured after wanted men resist arrest

FAYETTEVILLE - An officer and a paramedic were injured during the arrest of two wanted men Friday afternoon at the Wal-Mart on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Joshua Coffman, 20, and Braden Collins, 19, both of Springdale, and a woman were arguing inside the store and becoming aggressive toward Wal-Mart employees, according a police press release.

A Fayetteville officer arrived and asked for names. The officer found that Coffman was wanted for aggravated robbery, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance. Collins was wanted in connection with aggravated robbery, fleeing and obstructing governmental operations, according to the press release.

When an officer tried to arrest Collins, he tried to punch an officer in the face. Both men tried to flee, according to the press release.

During Collins' arrest, his head collided with an officer's. Both were seen for injuries.

When Collins was being checked out for injuries, he hit the paramedic treating him, according to the press release.

Both men were being held Saturday at the Washington County Detention Center with no bond set.
