Arkansas man accused of fatally stabbing pregnant wife

A northeast Arkansas man has been charged with two counts of capital murder in the deaths of his wife and unborn child, according to authorities.

Rickey Don Crawford Jr., 40, of Tuckerman was arrested Nov. 18 after his pregnant wife, Amanda Crawford, 33, was found stabbed to death in a home of theirs in Jackson County, according to the Jackson County sheriff's office.

"This is the first homicide involving a pregnant victim I have seen," Prosecuting Attorney Henry Boyce said in a news release. "The facts of this case are definitely heinous."

Crawford is scheduled to appear in Jackson County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. today.

Crawford was involved in a wreck Nov. 18 near the Diaz Scrap Yard, according to Capt. Richard Morales of the Jackson County sheriff's office. Morales said Crawford made a statement to investigators that "raised suspicion," and deputies went to a residence in Campbell Station where they found the body of Amanda Crawford.
