State acts to raze historic bridge; residents file motion to save structure

Supporters of the 87-year-old White River Bridge at Clarendon say the span is too valuable as a historic and cultural symbol to raze.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation opened bids Wednesday on a project to demolish the old White River Bridge at Clarendon after a group of Monroe County residents went to court in a last-ditch effort to save the historic structure.
