3.6 earthquake felt in part of Arkansas

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo.-- A 3.6 magnitude earthquake has been recorded in southeastern Missouri but caused no damage, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The agency said the earthquake struck Tuesday more than 2 miles southwest of Caruthersville, Mo., and that it could be felt in parts of three regions: northeast Arkansas, West Tennessee and western Kentucky. Caruthersville, Mo., is less than 30 miles from the northeast Arkansas town of Blytheville.

Caruthersville, Mo., is in the New Madrid Seismic Zone, where a series of large earthquakes took place from December 1811 to February 1812.
