Beaver Lake
Black bass are biting jerk baits and crank baits.
James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said crawdad colors are best when using crank baits. Popular brands are Spro Rock Crawler, Storm Wiggle Wart and American Original G-5.
Jerk baits in shad colors are a good choice. Anglers report catching walleye on jerk baits as well. Bass may also bite Alabama rigs, Whittle said.
Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said crappie are biting well on minnows or jigs. Bobby Garland crappie baits in the electric chicken and blue ice colors are working well. Fish 10 to 12 feet deep around any wood cover.
Striped bass activity has slowed down, but mainly because more fishermen are going after crappie. A fisherman caught a 26-inch walleye last week while crappie fishing with a jig.
Beaver tailwater
Lisa Mullins at Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting nightcrawlers or Power Bait. The Parker Bottoms and Bertrand launch ramp area are good places to fish.
Flicker Shads or small spoons are productive lures during power generation. The top flies are pheasant tails, midges, San Juan worms and Copper Johns.
Lakes Fayetteville, Sequoyah
The lakes reopened Monday. Their fishing reports will resume Jan. 23.
Swepco Lake
Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said several types of soft plastic lures will work for black bass. Water temperature is 70 to 80 degrees and warmest near the Flint Creek Power Plant warm-water discharge.
Top-water lures and Rat-L-Traps are good to use.
Eastern Oklahoma
Stroud said black bass at Lake Eucha are biting Alabama rigs, jerk baits or jig and pigs.
Bella Vista
Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said trout are biting at Lake Brittany on Power Bait or small spoons. Try jerk baits or grubs for black bass.
Table Rock Lake
Pete Wenners at Pete's Professional Guide Service said jerk baits are the best lure for black bass.
Fishing is slow, Wenners said, but jerk baits work best. Use white with a blue back on cloudy days. Try chrome with a black bass on sunny days.
Wenners has been fishing in the Kimberling City area, casting jerk baits near submerged cedar trees and transition areas that go from rock to gravel.
