Baby ingests meth; Arkansas man, 32, arrested

A Mountain Home man has been arrested after authorities determined that he had exposed a child to methamphetamine, authorities said.

William R. Kennerly, 32, faces charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and administering a controlled substance to another person, according to a release from the Baxter County sheriff's office.

Kennerly surrendered to authorities Friday but has been released from the Baxter County jail on $100,000 bond. He is to appear in court Thursday, the sheriff's office said.

An investigation determined that Kennerly had been crushing and snorting meth in a bathroom and accidentally dropped some on the floor that the 10-month-old girl ingested while crawling around, according to the release.

Kennerly admitted to using meth before the child got sick and said he was the only person in the residence using the drug, the release said.

The child was taken to a hospital in late November after she was "acting in an unusual manner" and was airlifted to Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock for treatment after tests determined she had consumed methamphetamine, the release said.
