An armed robber took about $1,300 from a gas station Tuesday evening, Little Rock police said.

A 49-year-old cashier at the Shell station at 3723 Cantrell Road told police that a man entered and asked to buy a lighter about 8 p.m.

When the employee opened the cash register to get change for a $10 bill, the robber pointed a gun at him and demanded money, the report stated.

The employee said that when he moved to get the cash, the gunman leaned over the counter and grabbed about $1,300, then ran outside.

The robber got into a white Dodge sedan and drove off west on Cantrell Road.

When reviewing the store's security footage, officers noted that the gunman initially entered the store about 7 p.m. He walked around, picked up a fountain drink cup and asked another employee a question, then went out to his vehicle for about an hour before re-entering the store.
