Shooting starts year off badly in Fayetteville

Sadly, Fayetteville joins a list of communities that experienced senseless gun violence on the first day of 2018 (a murder and attempted suicide in West Helena, AR; a mass shooting at a family home in Long Branch, NJ; and reportedly many others). Barely one hour into the new year, a fatal gun shooting occurred on Dickson Street. Details are sketchy at this time: Was the gun legally obtained by the alleged perpetrator? Did he have a permit to conceal carry? Was alcohol involved? As law-enforcement works its way through this investigation, one thing is certain: An altercation and a young life ended with a gun. We must not allow this to become normal.
