ROLLING ON THE RIVER: Photography focus of 'Delta' exhibit

The opening reception for "Delta: Rediscovered" was Feb. 9 at the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies. The exhibit chronicles life along the White River through the lens of photographer Dayton Bower.

Bower, who photographed people and places in Arkansas County between 1880 and 1924, had Arkansas' first known photography studio in DeWitt. Photographs in the exhibit were curated by Denise Parkinson, author of Daughter of the White River. The exhibit includes a short documentary film based on the book and features music by Arkansas singer-songwriter S.J. Tucker.

The opening was part of Second Friday Art Night and all the galleries in the Butler Center were open. During the evening, guests enjoyed drinks and snacks with entertainment by guitarist Matt Stone.

"Delta: Rediscovered" will be on display in the Loft Gallery of the Butler Center through April 28.
