BENTONVILLE — The Benton County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man in connection with 55 pounds of marijuana delivered Tuesday in the county.

Peter Lee, 42, was arrested in connection with possession of a controlled substance, according to a press release. Lee was released Thursday from the Benton County Jail on $50,000 bond.

An officer with the Sallisaw Police Department in Oklahoma made a traffic stop on a car hauler. He could smell marijuana coming from a 1993 Toyota pickup during the stop and found marijuana in the tool box in the back of the truck, according to press release.

The officer contacted agents with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and investigators determined the marijuana was on its way to Benton County.

A controlled delivery was arranged through the Sheriff’s Office narcotics division, according to the press release.

The marijuana has a street value of about $82,000, according to the press release.
