Boys

Alma 78, Maumelle 71

Alma (16-7) missed just enough free throws to keep things interesting, but eventually, the Airedales found a rhythm in the form of point guard Cejay Mann.

Mann made 7-of-8 free throws in the last 4 minutes, 38 seconds, which along with a pair of field goals from Brayden Johnson, provided enough margin for Alma to hold off Maumelle in a first-round matchup Tuesday night.

With the win, Alma advances to a semifinal against Morrilton at 7:45 p.m. today.

Johnson led Alma with 16 points. Tanner Shelton and Garrison Jensen scored 14 apiece and Kade Wood added 10.

Maumelle got double-digit scoring from Byron Wade (16), Brahm Harris (16) and Courtney Lawrence (14 points).

Greenbrier 52, Farmington 40

Greenbrier got on track in the fourth quarter after suffering a turnover-plagued first half. The game was tied 21-21 at the half and Farmington held a 32-31 lead at the end of the third quarter. The Panthers outscored Farmington 21-8 in the final eight minutes.

Kobe Dunlap hit five 3-pointers and led Greenbrier with 15 points. Devin Clark had 13.

Seniors Xavier Staten (11), Peyton Maxwell (10) and Jacob Gray (10) provided the bulk of Farmington's scoring.

Girls

Harrison 62, Maumelle 44

Harrison jumped out to a 16-4 lead against Maumelle. Claire Doshier hit a pair of 3-pointers and Kenzie Parker scored twice on feeds inside.

Back-to-back clutch 3-pointers gave Harrison separation after Jordan Cribbs-Polk's 3-pointer drew Maumelle within 43-42 at the 3:30 mark of the fourth.

Doshier's cool-as-ice step-back 3-pointer from the right wing answered, then Parker hit a trey pushing the Lady Goblins' lead out to 49-42.

Clarksville 55, Morrilton 49

A good start proved crucial as Clarksville held off a late Morrilton (18-10) rally.

Sophomore Emmaline Rieder had a trio of early baskets to help Clarksville get off to an 18-7 lead in a physical contest against Morrilton. Grace Dougan led Clarksville with 19 points and Rieder finished with 13 points.

Zee Wright had 13 points for Morrilton. Tamia Templeton scored 8 of her 12 points in the fourth quarter for the Devil Dogs.

Wednesday's Games

Girls

Pottsville 45, Huntsville 19

The No. 1 seed Lady Apaches dominated the third quarter and pulled away from No. 4 seed Huntsville in the opening round of the 4A North Regional.

Skylar Campbell scored a game-high 16 points for Pottsville, who advanced to Friday's semifinals. Campbell helped fuel a 22-2 run for Pottsville in the third quarter that turned a 15-8 lead into a rout.

Abby James scored 13 for the Lady Apaches -- all in the second half -- with three 3-pointers.

Kara Drewyer led Huntsville with 11 points.

Gravette 53, West Fork 19

The No. 1 seed Lady Lions started fast and never slowed down in routing West Fork in opening round action.

Gravette raced to a 17-1 lead after one quarter and led 28-3 at halftime in punching its ticket to Friday's semifinals. The win also assured Gravette (23-6) a berth in next week's Class 4A state tournament.

Krystin Branscum scored eight of her 10 in the first quarter. Gabbi Curtis led the Lady Lions with 12 points.

Elyssa Hauser and Brandi Smith scored four each for West Fork.

Boys

Pottsville 56, Gravette 36

The Apaches seized control in the first quarter and rolled over Gravette to advance to Friday's semifinals.

Jacob Chisum scored seven of his 13 points in the first quarter to help Pottsville (26-2) to a 17-4 lead. Gravette was never able to recover.

Wesley Heikes, a 6-foot-6 junior forward, scored 13 points to lead all scorers for Pottsville and Samuel Dunlop added 12.

Senior Dayten Wishon led Gravette with 11 points.

Berryville 57, Ozark 53

The host Bobcats outscored Ozark 15-9 in the fourth quarter to pull out a close win in Wednesday's late game.

No. 1 Berryville (23-7) trailed 44-42 after three quarters but hit 9-of-10 free throws in the fourth quarter to earn the win and advance to Friday's semifinals.

Jarrett Ray scored 18 points to lead four Bobcats in double figures. Scotland Lucas added 13, Zach Webb 12 and Ty Allen 11.

Ethan Masingale scored 18 points for the Hillbillies (22-7). Colt Millsap added 14 and Ethan Dorrough scored 14.

Class 3A Region 1

At Two Rivers

Girls

Two Rivers 69, Cedarville 49

Two Rivers outscored Cedarville 24-13 in the second quarter as the host team opened tournament play with an impressive victory.

Kaitlin Hunnicutt had 27 points to lead a trio of Lady Gators in double figures, followed by Clara Grace Prater with 16 and Paige Meredith with 11. Chloe Morrow had 18 for Cedarville while Lucy Shelly chipped in 11.

Charleston 53, Jessieville 35

Hattie Newhart found the hot hand in the second half, scoring 15 of her game-high 20 points as Charleston defeated Jessieville.

Payton Rucker added 13 for the Lady Tigers, who built a 26-15 halftime lead. Lilliana Fehrenbacher led Jessieville with 12 points.

Boys

Charleston 55, Two Rivers 54

Jacob Green hit a free throw with one second remaining as 3A-1 West champion Charleston avoided an upset bid by the host team, which was the No. 4 seed from the 3A-4.

Charleston advances to Friday's 8:30 p.m. semifinal, where the Tigers will face the winner of today's late game between Jessieville and Cedarville.

Perryville 71, Mansfield 50

Chandler Roland had 34 points as Perryville pulled away in the third quarter and knocked off Mansfield.

Garrison Branscum added 13 for Perryville, which outscored Mansfield 26-7 in the third quarter and turned a 41-28 halftime lead to a 67-35 cushion. Ethan Stovall led a trio of Mansfield players with 16 points, followed by Layton Howard with 13 and Andrew Wright with 11.

Boys

Valley Springs 65, Corning 61

The No. 1 seed Tigers were pushed to the limit but earned a spot in Friday's semifinals with a four-point win against Corning on Wednesday.

Sophomore Lawson Jenkins scored 23 points to pace Valley Springs. Ethan Garvin added 11.

Girls

Quitman 52, Lavaca 31

The Lady Bulldogs jumped to a 38-18 halftime lead and cruised to the big win.

Autumn Johnson poured in a game-high 21 points for Quitman (30-4). Hope Headley led Lavaca (23-7) with seven points.

Johnson County Westside 59, Conway Christian 46

Johnson County Westside used a 14-4 fourth-quarter run to pull away en route to the win.

Conway Christian pulled within 42-38 with five minutes to go, but Johnson County Westside pulled away for the win.

Alyssa Cummins led three players in double figures with 15 for Johnson County Westside. Madison Shelton added 13 and Kelsey Criss 12. Stormy Stacks scored a game-high 28 points for Conway Christian.

Boys

Quitman 61, Magazine 44

The Bulldogs put three players in double figures en route to the first-round victory.

Zac Shue led Quitman, which led 39-30 after three quarters, with 16 points, while Zackary Heffentrager added 13 and David Alarez 12.

Matt Smith led Magazine with 16 points, while Randon Baumgartner had 11.

White County Central 64, Lavaca 57

White County Central used balanced scoring to upset top seed Lavaca in the first round.

Jagger Myers led three in double figures for White County Central with 15 points.White County Central hit 11 of 13 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold on for the win.

Garrett Finley and Marlin Carder added 14 points each. Garrett Eck and Ryan Dockery shared game honors with 20 points each for Lavaca, which trailed 33-23 at halftime.

Class 1A Region 1

at Alpena

Girls

Jasper 47, Omaha 43

Jasper claimed a 23-13 halftime lead, then held off Omaha's second-half comeback attempt to avoid a first-round upset in Alpena.

Hope Brasel scored 10 of her 12 points in the second half to lead Jasper (28-8), which advances to a 4 p.m. semifinal game Friday, while Sierra Johnson added 10. Cass Yocham had 16 points for Omaha, followed by Kendall Atchison with 12 and Macie Arnold with 10.

Lead Hill 50, Bruno-Pyatt 25

Kaya Huebner scored 19 of her 24 points in the first half as Lead Hill rolled to a victory over Bruno-Pyatt.

Lexi Cain added 11 points for Lead Hill (20-19), which led 22-4 after one quarter. Allie Struckle had eight points for Bruno-Pyatt.

Boys

Omaha 67, Bruno-Pyatt 36

Garrett Matlock scored 16 points in the first quarter and finished with 23 as Omaha coasted to a first-round victory over Bruno-Pyatt.

Seth Lippe added 12 points and Jon Rylee France 11 for the Eagles (36-1), who was in control from the outset with a 28-2 lead in the first quarter. Marcus Morris had 12 to lead Bruno-Pyatt.

Western Grove 52, Lead Hill 36

The Warriors used a big third quarter to pull away for the first-round win.

Western Grove (24-12) led only 26-23 at halftime but outscored Lead Hill 17-9 to push its lead to 43-32 after three quarters. Hunter Baker and Luke Lane shared game honors with 20 points each for the Warriors.

Brad Norman led Lead Hil with 17.

Class 1A Region 4

At Dierks

Girls

County Line 54, Dierks 46

Kendra Toney scored 15 points to lead County Line to a first-round victory at the Class 1A Region 4 Tournament at Dierks.

Madison Price added 12 points and Diana Oudomvilay 10 for County Line (17-14), which will face the St. Paul vs. Acorn winner tonight at 7 p.m.
