Work set along U.S. 67/167 from Jacksonville to Cabot

A $79.2 million project to widen U.S. 67/167 from Jacksonville to Cabot will require a series of lane closings and modifications to two on-ramps beginning today and lasting throughout the week, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

Lanes on U.S. 67/167 and the northbound frontage road will be closed at various times, weather permitting. Traffic will be controlled with flaggers, signs and message boards. The affected areas include:

• The northbound and southbound lanes of T.P. White Drive will be alternately closed between Vandenberg and Northeastern boulevards intermittently between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Traffic will be reduced to one lane to allow crews to lay down asphalt and restripe the on-ramp to U.S. 67/167 near Vandenberg Boulevard. After re-striping, traffic will continue to use the on-ramp, but a designated left-turn bay will be removed, the department said.

• The northbound and southbound lanes of T.P. White Drive and Second Street will be alternately closed between Coffelt Road and Arkansas 5 intermittently between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to allow crews to detour traffic onto new pavement at the Pulaski-Lonoke county line.

• The right lane of southbound U.S. 67/167 will be closed at the Arkansas 5 on-ramp intermittently between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. to allow crews to restripe the Arkansas 5 ramp. Traffic will be shifted onto the new alignment during this work, the department said.
