SUV

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will hold their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Foghorns Restaurant, 2221 W. Walnut in Rogers. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. The Sons of Union Veterans is a fraternal organization dedicated to honoring the heritage of those who fought for the United States during the Civil War. The meeting is open to all.

Teachers

The Washington County Teachers Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Western Sizzlin' in Springdale.

The two-part program: "Information for Seniors" and "A Photographic Exhibit of Arkansas and Nature" will be presented by Cayla Wilson. Hostess for the meeting is Beverly Cosby, and the devotional will be given by Sharon Phelps.

Members need to bring items for CEO, books for children, boxtops and soda pop tops for schools. CEO has requested that items for personal hygiene be in small or sample size.

Lunch, which costs $12, is a buffet beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Democrats

The Northwest Arkansas Senior Democrats will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Springdale Western Sizzlin'. Jared Henderson, Democratic candidate for governor of Arkansas, will be the speaker. Henderson is a fourth generation Arkansan who graduated from the University of Arkansas, summa cum laude, with a degree in computer science. He also received a MS degree from Harvard Business School and the Kennedy School of Government. He is the former executive director of Teach for America.

Republicans

The Benton County Republican Women will meet at noon Tuesday at the Pleasant Crossing Golden Corral in Rogers. The guest speaker will be Joyce Mucci, field representative with the Federation for American Immigration Reform. Mucci, who joined FAIR in 2007, develops member and activist support throughout the United States. Mucci uses her knowledge, experience and passion about the issue to educate the media and public on immigration issues.

The club meets the third Tuesday of each month.

Civil War

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at General Store on the grounds of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale. The program will be presented by Kerry Jones, who will be speaking on the life of Gen. Grenville Dodge. The program is free and open to the public. Anyone with an interest in Civil War history is invited.

BC Dems

The Benton County Dems will meet at 11 a.m. Feb. 26 at Golden Corral in Rogers with a program beginning at noon. Speakers are Gladys Tiffany, director at Omni Center for Peace, Justice and Ecology, and co-presenter Patrick Kennemon with the Fayetteville Citizens Climate Lobby. They'll present research introducing the work of professors George Lakoff and Jonathan Haidt to address the different value systems and miscommunication between liberals and conservatives.

Teachers

The Rogers Retired Teachers Association will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 1 at Golden Corral, 2605 W. Pleasant Crossing Drive in Rogers. Retired educators or employees of any school system who live in the Rogers area are invited. The program will be presented by Mary Huie, travel manager for the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. Huie will provide information about group travel opportunities for RRTA members with ARTA.

The last meeting for the spring will be April 12 at the same time and location.

Toastmasters

Twin Lakes Toastmasters Club in Fayetteville will deliver the skills and confidence people need to effectively express themselves in any situation. The club meets at 6:30 p.m. every Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1021 W. Sycamore St. in Fayetteville.
