WASHINGTON COUNTY

Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, 699 N. Sang Ave., presents Robert Ford in a staged reading of his play My Father's War at 7 p.m. Feb. 17. Tickets are $30, available at the temple and Nightbird Books in Fayetteville. The event is a benefit for the temple.

BENTON COUNTY

Highland Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bella Vista, 1500 Forest Hills Boulevard, sponsor Disciple Women at 10 a.m. today. Sara Denning will present "Living Life Fully Free."

The Disciple Men's Fellowship will meet for a pizza breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 17 and then car pool to the Bella Vista Historical Museum. They will hear a 15 to 20 minute presentation by Xyta Lucas and then take a private tour of the museum for about an hour. Those who wish to meet at the museum should arrive by 9:30 a.m.

Village Bible Church in Bella Vista, 1591 Forest Hills Boulevard, serves a potluck fellowship dinner with a Valentine's Day theme will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Singing, devotions and prayer begin at 6:45 p.m. in the Worship Center.

Brightwater Memorial United Methodist Church, 14108 E. U.S. 62 in Rogers, and Pea Ridge United Methodist Church, 1205 N. Davis St. in Pea Ridge, will hold a combined Ash Wednesday service at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Brightwater.

St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Rogers, 824 W. Oak St., will celebrate Shrove Tuesday this week with a free pancake supper at 5:30 p.m. Shrove Tuesday is the traditional day of feast before the fasting of Lent.

The church offers three Ash Wednesday services with the imposition of ashes at noon, 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (Spanish) Feb. 14.

Congregation Etz Chaim in Bentonville, which meets at Waterway, 4074 S.W. H St., offers a free seminar on basic Judaism. Sessions include "What We Celebrate," a look at the events and holidays observed by the Jewish people, meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 20 at Panera Bread in Bentonville; and "What We Pray," a look at traditional Jewish prayer and liturgy, meeting 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 13 at Panera Bread.

Unity Church of the Ozarks, 12 McKissick Creek Road, Suite 1210, Bentonville, offers an Ash Wednesday service with 20 minutes of meditation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The church sponsors its monthly women's gathering from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 17. The workshop will be "Discover the Hidden Treasure Inside You." A potluck breakfast will be served.

The United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista, 100 Cooper Road, sponsors the United Singles as they meet for games and snacks at 10:30 a.m. today. The Breakfast Club meets at 8 a.m. Monday, with Zane Vanderpool, principal of Glenn Duffy Elementary in Gravette speaking. The church presents Stephen Phelps, the regional gift planner for the Lutheran Planned Giving Partnership of the Central States and Arkansas-Oklahoma Synod, speaking at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 17. A light lunch will be served.

The church offers Ash Wednesday services at 12:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Lenten supper services are planned for 6 p.m. every Wednesday during Lent, beginning Feb. 21.

The quilters are in need of flat bed sheets, in double, queen or king sizes. They do not need to be new but need to be in good shape. The sheets are used as backing for quilts that are sent to Lutheran World Relief.

The Shepherd's Food Pantry is open every Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is in need of peanut butter and jelly.

Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rogers, 2305 S. Dixieland Road, serves a potluck meal after worship Sunday.

The church offers Lenten services at 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning this week. A soup and sandwich supper is served at 6:30 p.m.

Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd., offers Lenten meditations from 6:30 to 7 p.m. each Wednesday, this week to March 21. Soup suppers will be served from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for $3 per person or $5 per family.

A co-ed Bible Study begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The topic is "Know Why You Believe."

Holiday Island Community Church, 188 Stateline Drive, offers an Ash Wednesday service at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The church plans a five-week Lenten Bible class featuring the video series The Path to the Cross by Ray Vander Laan. Jeff Timm will lead the class which meets at 10 a.m. each Friday, beginning this week.
