The University of Arkansas at Little Rock men’s basketball team lost its seventh consecutive game against South Alabama at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala.

UALR (5-20, 2-10 Sun Belt Conference) led 28-27 with 3:11 in the first half, and South Alabama (12-12, 5-6) followed with a 15-2 run that continued into the second half.

The Jaguars distanced their lead during the second half, when the Trojans were 9 of 25 (36 percent) shooting and 2 of 9 (22.2 percent) from three-point distance.

UALR junior guard Camron Reedus started in place of leading scorer Andre Jones, who was dismissed from the team on Monday due to “conduct detrimental to the program.” Reedus had four points and two rebounds.

TROY 89,

ARKANSAS STATE 83, OT

Arkansas State University lost in overtime to Troy after leading for most of the game at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala.

ASU (9-16, 4-8 Sun Belt Conference) led 78-72 with 1:30 left in regulation, when Trojans senior guard Wesley Person made consecutive three-pointers to send the game into overtime.

Troy (11-13, 5-6) was 4 of 6 shooting during overtime. ASU was 1 of 8 (12.5 percent) shooting, 1 of 7 (14.3 percent) from three-point distance.

Red Wolves junior guard Ty Cock-field scored a career-high 31 points, and seniors Deven Simms and Tamas Bruce combined for 28 points and 19 rebounds.

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock women’s basketball team led by as many as 20 points in its overpowering victory over South Alabama at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Ala.

It was the fewest points UALR (15-8, 12-0 Sun Belt Conference) has allowed in a game this season, and it was the fewest points South Alabama (15-7, 8-3) has scored this season.

UALR junior forward Yanina Inkina had a game-high 15 points. She was 5 for 5 shooting to start the game, scoring the game’s first 11 points.

The Trojans have now tied last season’s conference victory streak at 12 games. The program won 17 consecutive during the 2009-2010 season.

ARKANSAS STATE 78

The Arkansas State University women’s basketball team trailed for the entirety of its loss to Troy at Trojan Arena in Troy, Ala.

ASU (12-11, 7-5 Sun Belt Conference) fell behind 10-0 at the start of the game. When sophomore Tahlon Hopkins made a jump shot to get ASU to within 10-2 of Troy (12-10, 7-4), that’s as close as the Red Wolves would come. They trailed by as many as 25 points in the game. Troy scored 36 points off ASU’s season-high 31 turnovers. Trojans sophomore guard Kayla Robinson had a game-high 18 points and was 3 of 4 from three-point distance.

ASU sophomore forward Madison Heckert scored a career-high 17 points with 2 rebounds and an assist.
