1 Purse $25,000, 6 furlongs, 3-year-olds and up which have never won three races, claiming $16,000

***PREACHER TIME was forwardly placed in three competitive two-turn races at Remington, and he may be a better late-running sprinter. He picks up Hall of Fame rider Gary Stevens. READY AIM is moving up a claiming condition following a decisive victory, which was his first race under the care of trainer Doug O'Neill. SPUR brings competitive Beyer figures from Turf Paradise. He is adding blinkers and is a threat to lead past every pole.

**MINISTER NICK is adding blinkers and taking a significant drop following a one-paced effort. Winning connections have him spotted to contend. ARCHIVAL was running races in New York good enough to win at this level, and he is one-half of a strong entry with the top selection. TEXAS SKY finished second at a higher price just two races back at Remington, and early trouble compromised his best when sixth in his local debut.

**FREESTYLER raced consistently well at a higher class level at Remington. He worked a bullet four-furlongs Feb. 1 and picks up five-time leading rider Ricardo Santana. AIN'T MISBEHAVIN rallied to fourth after a troubled break from the gate in a deceptive effort at a higher claiming price, and races like the ones he produced last season in California would be difficult to beat. ALL ABOUT ASHLEY has crossed the wire first in three of his last six races, and his last race on a sloppy track can be thrown out.

**SOUTH BEACH is an unraced son of Tapit who twice sold for better than $1 million at auction, and he shows bullet 5-furlong breezes at Houston for the powerful stable of trainer Steve Asmussen. C DUB just missed second-place money in a fast 7-furlong race at Keeneland, and the fresh colt sports swift breezes since arriving in Hot Springs. LA MAQUINA GRIS has shown some early speed in a pair of in-the-money finishes at Churchill, and the Steve Asmussen trainee may be overlooked in this spot.

**DAFTAR was overmatched in an allowance race and may not have cared for the tight turns in a poor performance at Delta, but he was consistently competitive throughout 2017, while competing at a higher class level. NIGHT PATROL has a strong record in races at $8,000 or less, and the class dropper picks up a leading rider and should come rolling. GOOGLEADO is a 9-year-old who finished second at Keeneland just three races back, and he appears to be the speed of the speed.

**STROLLING has battled for the lead for 6 furlongs before fading in consecutive route races. He did finish second in a sprint at Keeneland and is dropping into a maiden-claimer. DESERT DOMINATION has shown early speed in three consecutive in-the-money finishes, and the two-time beaten favorite may be ready to make amends. DRY MARTINI is a steadily improving 3-year-old who possesses early speed and may benefit from a switch to rider Gary Stevens.

***SANDVILLE recorded competitive late-running finishes at Churchill and Keeneland as a juvenile. He picks up a leading rider and figures stronger and faster at 3. INTO MY DREAMS was compromised by a troubled start in a late-running second-place finish, and he had a good subsequent breeze and keeps rider Gary Stevens. TENFOLD is a nicely bred unraced colt from the Steve Asmussen barn, and he shows encouraging works at Fair Grounds and picks up a high percentage rider.

****ADENS DREAM recorded traffic trouble down the backstretch in a strong third-place allowance finish at Santa Anita. He is dropping in class and sheds 7 pounds. EL CHARRO is taking a slight class hike after rallying to second in a fast-paced race, while earning the field's fastest last-race Beyer figure. OPERATION STEVIE was a dead-heat winner in an optional-claimer Jan. 21, and the versatile 6-year-old is back sprinting and capable of repeating if the pace is contested enough.

***DESERT MADAM has been working steadily since a second-place finish at Del Mar, and the 7-year-old mare has back-class and knows how to win. ELECTRIC COWGIRL was a determined winner at this distance opening weekend, and she is back at her best distance after a late-running sprint tune-up against slightly better. SECRET TRICK was a fast-closing second in an abbreviated sprint race, and she has proven route ability and likes this race track.

EXOTIC POSSIBILITIES

The early double is playable with PREACHER TIME and READY AIM as logical contenders in the first. The second race has a strong twohorse entry, but others stand an upset chance and spreading a bit is recommended. The fifth provides an opportunity at a big trifecta payoff, assuming DAFTAR is a good price and wins. With all overlays I spread out in both the second and third spots and hope for the best.
