2 more Arkansas school districts close because of pupil, staff illness

Two more school districts will be closed today because a high number of their students, and faculty and staff members are sick.

Classes in the McCrory School District will resume Monday, according to a Facebook post.

"We will be disinfecting all buildings tomorrow and this weekend," the Facebook post from the Woodruff County district said. "Please help us out with this and do not send students to school who are still showing symptoms of illness."

Gurdon Public Schools in Clark County also will be closed today because of a high rate of absences attributed to the flu, according to a post on that district's Facebook page. Basketball games will be played as scheduled, the district wrote.

The district posted Tuesday that several students were sent home with flu-like symptoms.

The districts are among several -- including Russellville, Danville and Mountainburg -- that canceled classes in the past month because of illness and flu-like symptoms.

Arkansas' death toll this flu season is 125, which includes three children, according to the latest state Department of Health report.
