Freshman Hayden Koval recorded a triple-double and Jordan Howard scored 35 points to lead the University of Central Arkansas (13-12, 7-5 Southland Conference) over Houston Baptist (5-19, 1-10) at Sharp Gym in Houston.

Koval had 17 points, 11 blocked shots and 10 rebounds. The 11 blocked shots broke his record of 7 he previously shared with Fernando Johnson (2006) and Durrell Nevels (2007).

Howard was 12 of 16 from the field, including 5 of 7 on three-pointers. He was also 6 of 6 at the free-throw line.

After Howard's 35 and Koval's 17, the Bears had three other players score 10 or more points. Mathieu Kamba and Thatch Unruh each scored 13 points, while Matthew Mondesir chipped in 10 off the bench.

Led by Howard and Koval (7 of 12), the Bears shot 56.3 percent from the field (36 of 64) and were 8 of 19 (42.1 percent) from three-point range. UCA was also 20 of 23 (87 percent) from the free-throw line and outrebounded the Huskies 44-32.

Ian DuBose led Houston Baptist with 20 points. The Huskies got 17 points from Jalon Gates, 15 from David Caraher and 11 from Braxton Bonds.

CENTRAL ARKANSAS 64,

HOUSTON BAPTIST 56

Central Arkansas (16-7, 9-3 Southland Conference) shook off an eight-point loss Saturday to Southeastern Louisiana with an eight-point victory over Houston Baptist (6-15, 2-9) in Conway at the Farris Center.

The Sugar Bears led 29-20 at halftime, but the Huskies closed the gap to 43-40 entering the fourth quarter. UCA outscored Houston Baptist 7-2 to lead 50-42 to start the quarter before the Huskies went on a 6-0 run to make it 50-48 with 5:36 remaining.

UCA then closed the game on a 14-8 run thanks to two Kierra Jordan layups and a pair of free throws apiece by Taylor Baudoin and Maddie Goodner.

Jordan led all scorers with 27 points on the strength of 13-of-18 shooting and had a team-high 5 rebounds. Baudoin added 15 points and 2 blocked shots for the Sugar Bears.

Sydney Carr led Houston Baptist with 17 points, while Amanda Johnson chipped in 15.
