Girls

Charleston 67, Paris 28

Jada McDowell led a trio of Charleston players in double figures with 18 points to lead the Lady Tigers to a 4A/3A District 5 win Tuesday night at Charleston.

Hattie Newhart added 14 points and Allie Green for Charleston (16-6, 10-1), which jumped out to a 23-11 lead after one quarter. Green had a trio of 3-pointers in the first quarter, while McDowell added seven points.

Keeli Robinson had 14 points, including a 12-of-18 outing from the free-throw line, to lead Paris.

Boys

Charleston 70, Paris 32

Charleston used a 20-9 run in the second quarter to pull away from Paris and claim a 4A/3A District 5 victory.

Brayden Ross had 24 points to lead the Tigers (17-5, 12-1), whose outburst turned a one-point lead into a 36-21 halftime cushion. Chase Ewing added 11 and Kaleb Fisher 10 to Charleston, which led 62-28 after three quarters.

PREP BOWLING

Bentonville High boys, girls claim conference titles

Sophomores Mason Blaty and Lindsey Gann both claimed 7A-West Conference individual bowling titles and led Bentonville High to a sweep of the team titles Tuesday at Fast Lanes in Rogers.

Blaty rolled a 683 series higlighted by a 268 in the opening game to edge Fort Smith Northside's Andy Duangdara, who rolled a 659. Blaty's teammate Brandt Andreasen was third at 624.

Gann won the girls' conference title, rolling a 675 series. Rogers Heritage's Trinity White took second at 657, followed by Rogers High's Corinna Jones.

The Lady Tigers won the team title, edging Rogers Heritage 3,296 to 3,203 in total pins, to remain undefeated this season. Their male counterparts had an even more narrow margin, nipping Fort Smith Southside 3,752 to 3,721.

The top five teams advance to the state tournament on Thursday, February 15, at Bowling World in Fort Smith. Siloam Springs, Springdale High and Fort Smith Northside round out the state team qualifiers on the boys side. Rogers High, Bentonville West and Siloam Springs girls teams also earned state tournament berths.
