Fundraiser for Youth and Families organization honors first Champions of Hope class

Tall arrangements of giant tropical foliage and silhouettes of palm fronds cast on the walls with green lighting set the scene for Evolve: A Night in the Jungle on Jan. 27. The event at the Statehouse Convention Center's Wally Allen Ballroom was a fundraiser for Centers for Youth and Families.

The evening included live and silent auctions and entertainment by Arkansas Circus Arts. The evening's honoree was U.S Rep. French Hill (R-Ark).

During the program, the inaugural class of Champions of Hope was introduced. The group is a volunteer organization for young men in their junior and senior years of high school. They were R.J. Anderson, Thomas McGinnis Franks, Layne Hatcher, Payne Hill, Robert Johnson III, Trajen Johnson, Matthew Brett Lynch, Jake Paddie, Justin Patty, Jeb Sullivan and Thomas Whellis. Trena Nosler served as event chairman.

After the program and dinner, there was dancing with music by Nikki Parrish and The Rodney Block Collective.
