Fort Smith keeps eye on area of diesel spill

Soil removed at park; stream tainted

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/DAVE HUGHES A large hole remains next to Fort Smith's Creekmore Park Express train station where city crews had to remove soil contaminated by 250 gallons of diesel that leaked from a tank used to refuel the park's now-discontinued train.

City officials are monitoring Creekmore Park after crews removed contaminated soil and two trees after an estimated 250 gallons of diesel leaked from a tank used to fuel a Creekmore Express train.
