SPRINGDALE -- Springdale High is making a move in the 7A-West Conference.
Trentez Scales scored 16 points and Carl Fitch 13 to lead the Bulldogs to a 46-33 victory over Rogers Heritage at the Bulldogs gym Friday night. The win was the fourth in five games for Springdale (13-8, 4-4), which had lost two previous games to the War Eagles this season.

Springdale was dominant on defense against Heritage (15-6, 4-4), which fell into a tie with the Bulldogs and Bentonville West for fourth place in the conference standings. Springdale jumped to leads of 16-7 and 24-9 while holding Heritage to only three baskets in the first half. Senior center Seth Stanley made all 16 of his points in the second half for Heritage, which only had three players score.
"This is the third time we've played them and we've made some adjustments each time," Springdale coach Jeremy Price said. "Tonight, we were prepared and we played with energy."
Heritage fought back in the fourth quarter and got to within 35-30 when Stanley made a 3-pointer from the corner. But Springdale answered with a 3-pointer by JaJuan Boyd and a three-point play by Scales to increase its lead to 41-30 with 1 minute, 30 seconds left.
Springdale outscored Heritage 16-6 in the second quarter to take control. Boyd made a 3-pointer to open the quarter, followed by two inside baskets from Fitch. Keyon Johnson added two short jumpers before Scales finished the quarter with two free throws.
Springdale kept up the pace to take a 31-16 lead after three quarters.

Springdale had little problem with Heritage (5-15, 0-8), which remains winless in conference play.

Marquesha Davis scored 16 points for Springdale (14-7, 5-3), which led 14-5 after one quarter and 23-12 at halftime. Sarah Vogel added 12 points and Ashlyn Minchew eight for Springdale while Pam Seiler scored 14 to lead Heritage.
"Minchew posted hard and Vogel hit some shots," Springdale coach Heather Hunsucker said. "It was back to Springdale basketball and what we do well. We used the post, going inside out, and really focused on not taking a lot of threes."
Ryan Malashock, a former sports writer, made his varsity coaching debut for Heritage in place of Scott Moore, who was away at a funeral in Wisconsin.
The Lady War Eagles were overmatched by Springdale and Davis, who scored from all over the court. In one sequence, Davis drove inside from the perimeter, missed a shot, then put in the rebound while falling down.
Heritage did not reach double figures until Pam Seiler banked in a 3-pointer with 58 seconds left in the first half.
