Suspect arrested 5 months after man lured into robbery

A Jacksonville man, accused of luring a man to a Little Rock apartment complex and setting him up to be robbed this summer, has been arrested, court documents show.

Jaylin "Rax" Stephens faces charges of aggravated robbery and first-degree battery related to a shooting that occurred during the robbery, files show. He was arrested Dec. 5.

Police believe that Stephens asked Ricardo Guerra-Sequra on July 16 to meet him at Pleasant Pointe Apartments near Green Mountain Drive to drop off some new music, court documents said. No one answered when Guerra-Sequra knocked on the apartment door, and Stephens was not answering his phone, according to reports.

Video surveillance from the apartment shows Stephens sitting in a gray SUV nearby watching Guerra-Sequra, court documents said. The video shows Stephens and an unidentified man in the driver's seat leaving for a moment. When they return, they drop off a man with a gun, the video shows.

At 2:37 p.m. on July 16, officers received a call about a shooting at the complex. They found Guerra-Sequra sitting in a vehicle bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds, according to court documents.

Guerra-Sequra later told officers that he had given up on Stephens answering the door and turned around to go back to his car when he saw a man in a red T-shirt walking toward him with a gun and demanding money, reports said.

Guerra-Sequra said he refused to give the man any money and began fighting with him. The man then shot him and ran away. Guerra-Sequra said he made it to his vehicle, sat down and blacked out, court documents said.

Surveillance footage shows the man in the red shirt running to a different apartment building while carrying a bag that he stole from Guerra-Sequra. A gray SUV picked up the gunman and left, the affidavit said.
