MEN'S BASKETBALL

SAU wins at home

Jalen Brooks came off the bench to score 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting to lead Southern Arkansas University to a 68-60 victory over Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday in Magnolia.

Devante Brooks and Draylan Perkins both added 10 points for the Muleriders (7-2, 2-1 Great American Conference), who shot 23 of 59 (39.0 percent) from the floor and outrebounded Ouachita Baptist (4-3, 1-2) 37-28. The Muleriders also had 11 turnovers to the Tigers' 19.

Morris Talbert led Ouachita Baptist with 11 points while Matt Stanley had 10.

Henderson wins on last-second layup

Jeremiah Toney took a pass from Eric Dailey and scored on a layup with 3.8 seconds left to give Henderson State University a 75-74 victory over Harding University at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia on Saturday.

The layup was set up when Harding's J.V. Long, who made 5 of 12 free throws, missed two free throws with 16.9 seconds left. Dailey found Toney, who cut in from the left baseline and made the layup.

Harding trailed 65-54 with 7:04 left before using a 15-3 run to take a 69-68 lead with 4:15 left.

Chris Parker led Henderson State (7-2, 2-1 GAC) with 19 points. Dailey had 17 points, Toney had 13 and Rel Johnson had 11.

Colin Hale led Harding (4-4, 2-1) with 20 points. Reggie Anthony had 13 and Long had 12.

Arkansas Tech falls at UAM

Darnell Wright's layup and free throw with 56 seconds left put the University of Arkansas at Monticello ahead for good in a 75-72 victory over Arkansas Tech University on Sunday in Monticello.

K.J. Lewsure made 1 of 2 free throws with 27 seconds left to set the final margin.

Arkansas Tech had a chance to tie, but Will Adler missed a free throw with 10 seconds left and R.J. Glasper missed one with three seconds left.

Austin Wright led the Boll Weevils (5-3, 2-1) with 23 points and 5 rebounds, while Wright added 14 points and 5 rebounds.

Adler led Arkansas Tech (2-6, 0-3) with 19 points and six rebounds. Alex Brown added 18 points and 7 rebounds, and Ramses Sandifer added 16 points and 12 rebounds.

John Brown wins on the road

Josh Bowling scored 31 points on 9-of-15 shooting as John Brown University defeated Southwestern Christian 71-66 on Saturday in Bethany, Okla.

Desmond Kennedy finished with 15 points and 6 rebounds as the Golden Eagles (8-3, 4-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) shot 40.8 percent (23 of 57) from the floor and made 14 of 20 free throws.

John Brown won despite being outrebounded 36-31, losing 26-24 on points in the lane.

David Beasley led Southwestern Christian (6-5, 1-2) with 13 points.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

UAM tops Arkansas Tech

Mackenzie Jordan scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds, and Jaida Harden had 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead the University of Arkansas at Monticello to a 74-65 victory over Arkansas Tech University on Saturday in Monticello.

The Cotton Blossoms (2-5, 1-2 Great American Conference) shot 40 percent from the floor (20 of 50), but outrebounded Arkansas Tech 50-20, which led to 30 points in the lane. They also outscored the Golden Suns 30-10 at the foul line.

UAM held Arkansas Tech (3-4, 1-2) to 36.9 percent from the floor. Jacie Higgins led the Golden Suns with 13 points.

OBU beats SAU

Madison Brittain scored 22 points and Alvia Huell had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Ouachita Baptist University (4-4, 2-1 GAC) to a 67-55 victory over Southern Arkansas University on Saturday in Magnolia.

The Lady Tigers shot 25 of 52 from the floor (48.1 percent), including 7 off 11 on three-pointers, and held Southern Arkansas to 31.4 percent (16-of-51) shooting, including 7 of 25 on three-pointers.

Ouachita Baptist won despite getting outrebounded 30-28.

Brette Wacha and Camryn Fennell had 13 points for Southern Arkansas (1-6, 0-3).

Henderson State hands Harding first GAC loss

Pink Jones scored 31 points and had 6 rebounds and 6 assists, Blu Jones had 18 points, and Estes Hailey had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead Henderson State University (7-1, 3-0 GAC) to an 84-77 victory over Harding at the Duke Wells Center in Arkadelphia on Saturday.

Henderson State won despite shooting 26 of 67 from the floor (38.8 percent), including 7 of 24 from three-point range, and getting outrebounded 37-34. Henderson State outscored Harding 21-11 in points off turnovers. Henderson held Harding to 44.1 percent (26 of 59) from the floor and didn't allow Harding to make a three-point shot in six attempts.

Kellie Lamp led Harding (6-2, 2-1) with 19 points and seven rebounds. Cheyenne Brown had 17 points.

John Brown wins in Oklahoma

Baily Cameron had 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead John Brown University to a 71-66 victory over Southwestern Christian in Bethany, Okla., on Saturday.

Karina Chandra had 15 points and six rebounds, and Taylor Fergan had 11 points.

The Golden Eagles (7-3, 3-2 Sooner Athletic Conference) shot 41.3 percent (26 of 63) from the floor, and made 9 of 22 three-pointers. John Brown outrebounded Southwestern Oklahoma 43-27, collecting 30 points in the lane and 13 second-chance points.
