Hot dog stand comes to Bentonville

BENTONVILLE -- A new food stand recently started serving up hot dogs around Bentonville.

Richard Palmer, the owner of "That Hot Dog Guy," worked for Darden Restaurants, Inc., the company that owns Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse and other chain restuarants.

"I know food. I know hospitatlity," he said.

Having grown up in New Jersey and spending time in Chicago, Palmer also knows good hot dogs. That Hot Dog Guy serves all-beef hot dogs, bratwursts, homemade Coney Island chili. Palmer also offers catering for private events.

Rather than have set hours and locations, the hot dog stand will float around Bentonville, and locations will be posted on the "That Hot Dog Guy" Facebook page, Palmer said.

"Our base station is downtown Bentonville," he said.

Ten percent of the stand's profits go toward an Souls Harbor, a transitional housing community where men who have completed rehabilitation or treatment for substance abuse can live for six months to a year, according to Souls Harbor's website. Palmer and his wife teach GED courses at Souls Harbor.
