The Best Trail Ever is one of the spurs on the Fitzgerald Mountain Trail System in Springdale.

Vincent Edwards, rides coordinator with the Ozark Off Road Cyclists, recently rode the trail. Edwards said the trail is a black diamond with a mix of modern flow features with chunky, technical, east coast cross country style climbing.

The Trail has many rock gardens and jumps of varying sizes.

A trailhead to the system is near Bayyari Park, 2400 Deer Valley St, Springdale, AR 72764. A new parking area for the system will be completed soon.

The entire Fitzgerald Mountain Trail System is build on 130 acres. Seven miles of trails are currently done according to a press release from the Walton Family foundation. The trail currently includes four miles of rocky, technical black trails and three miles of cross-country trails for hiking and walking on the north side of the mountain. An additional three miles of entry-level trails are currently under construction on the mountain’s south side, according to the release.

A Walton Family Foundation grant to the NWA Trailblazers provided the money to build the trail.
