TULSA, Okla. — Wes Darvill hit a sacrifice to drive in Logan Landon with the winning run in the ninth inning, as the Tulsa Drillers topped the Northwest Arkansas Naturals 6-5 on Tuesday.
Landon scored the game-winning run after he entered the game as a pinch runner on second base.
The Naturals tied the game 5-5 in the top of the seventh when Samir Duenez hit an RBI single, scoring Erick Mejia as part of a two-run inning.
Reliever Andrew Istler (4-4) picked up the win after he struck out three while allowing one hit over 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Franco Terrero (3-6) didn’t record an out and allowed one run in the Texas League game.
Cael Brockmeyer singled three times in the win.
ARKANSAS 9, SPRINGFIELD 3
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Chuck Taylor had four hits and scored two runs, and Chris Mazza allowed just five hits over seven innings as the Arkansas Travelers defeated the Springfield Cardinals 9-3 on Tuesday.
Mazza (1-0) allowed two runs while striking out four and walking one to pick up the win.
Up 2-0 in the third, Arkansas added to its lead when Kyle Lewis hit a three-run home run.
The Travelers later added two runs in both the fourth and seventh innings. In the fourth, Eric Filia hit a two-run single, while Yonathan Mendoza and Chris Mariscal both drove in a run in the seventh. Michael Wacha (0-1) went 2 1/3 innings, allowing five runs and six hits in the Texas League game. He also struck out three and walked one.
Arkansas improved to 20-9 against Springfield this season.
MIDLAND 4, SAN ANTONIO 3
MIDLAND, Texas — Richie Martin hit a three-run home run in the first inning, leading the Midland RockHounds to a 4-3 win over the San Antonio Missions on Tuesday.
The home run by Martin capped a four-run inning and gave the Rock-Hounds a 4-3 lead after Tyler Ramirez hit an RBI single earlier in the inning.
